Hi! I’m Humza - Hum like in hummer and za as in plaza - a Lahori living in London by way of Saarbrücken.

I’ve been building software professionally since 2011. Most of this work has involved backend web development, DevOps, statistical model training, and data pipelines.

I’m passionate about disentangling complexity in technical projects and improving organisational culture.

Reach me at humzashah at gmail dot com if you’d like to discuss something that I could help with or if you’d like to invite me for a talk.

Read on for details of my work experience, conference talks, and qualifications.

In February 2018, I moved to the Production Engineering team. I led incident post-mortems and helped develop reliability guidelines for services. I also improved the cost-efficiency of the tech infrastructure resulting in significant savings such as cutting datastore costs by half.

My role at Deliveroo has also involved mentoring engineers, conducting interviews, and improving development processes.
